Why I Started Coastal Motion Chiropractic: A Chiropractor’s Story

People often ask me what made me become a chiropractor—and even more, why I chose to open Coastal Motion Chiropractic. The truth is, this clinic isn’t just a business. It’s a reflection of the way I believe care should feel: personal, evidence-based, empowering, and deeply human.
But to explain that, I need to take you back a little.
🧍♂️ The Body That Wouldn’t Cooperate
Growing up, I was an active kid—always moving, always pushing. Surfing, skating, sports… I loved anything that challenged my body. But around my late teens, I started to feel like something was “off.” My body wasn’t moving the way it used to. Little niggles turned into lingering pain. Simple movements felt harder than they should.
I did what most people do—I stretched more, trained harder, and hoped it would go away. It didn’t.
It was my first proper chiropractic appointment that changed everything. Not because it was flashy or dramatic, but because the practitioner actually listened. They didn’t rush. They assessed everything—posture, gait, movement patterns. They explained what was going on, and why. That experience was the first time I felt understood, and empowered to do something about it.
That session planted a seed. I didn’t know it at the time, but it would eventually become the foundation for Coastal Motion.
🎓 From Student to Practitioner
I went on to study Chiropractic at RMIT University in Melbourne, diving deep into anatomy, biomechanics, manual therapy, and clinical care. I was fascinated—not just by the body’s complexity, but by its resilience.
During my training, I worked with people from all walks of life: athletes, tradies, new mums, desk workers, retirees. Each person came with a different story, but a common thread—most had been living with discomfort for far too long. Many were used to being told “you’ll just have to live with it.” Some had bounced between professionals without ever feeling heard.
I knew I wanted to be the kind of chiropractor who did things differently.
🌊 Why the Coast, and Why Now?
After working in both busy urban clinics and quieter regional spaces, I realized that my ideal environment was somewhere in between—a practice grounded in genuine care, not rushed consults or cookie-cutter protocols.
I came back to the coast because this lifestyle reflects my values. It’s slower. It’s active. It’s community-based. And most of all, it reminds me that movement doesn’t have to be perfect—it just has to be honest, sustainable, and supported.
So I built Coastal Motion Chiropractic with one goal in mind: to create a space where people feel truly seen, treated as a whole person, and supported on their path—not just to recovery, but to long-term movement confidence.
🧠 What Coastal Motion Stands For
Coastal Motion Chiropractic is rooted in four core principles:
- Connection – No rushed appointments. I take the time to understand your story, not just your symptoms.
- Clarity – You’ll always know what we’re doing and why. Education is part of the healing process.
- Movement First – Adjustments help, but movement changes everything.
- Long-Term Thinking – I’m not here for a quick crack and goodbye. I want you to build real, lasting change.
This isn’t just spinal care—it’s nervous system care, movement education, injury prevention, and whole-body wellbeing.
💬 Final Thoughts
Coastal Motion is more than a clinic. It’s the place I wish I’d found when I needed help—back when I didn’t yet have the language or tools to explain what was wrong, but I knew I needed support.
So if you’ve been living with discomfort, struggling with performance plateaus, or just feel disconnected from your body, know this: you don’t have to figure it out alone.
I’d be honoured to walk that path with you.
See you in the clinic,
